Do you like buying dinner rolls from the store or making them at home? I like making dinner rolls at home. However, when I don’t have time, I buy them. But nothing can beat a homemade dinner roll. Hence, I try my best to make it ahead of time and freeze them.
These dinner rolls are hard to say no to as they are buttery, pillowy soft, and delicious. They are a staple in our house. It is the only dinner roll recipe I use for our holiday dinners. It is great for lunches, sliders, or serving on the side of soups.
How to make the soft & buttery Dinner Rolls
Did I say this is the Best Soft & Buttery Dinner Roll Recipe and the only one you should have in your recipe collection? I have improved our family recipe to make it softer & buttery.
I have increased the butter a little and added 1- egg and 1 Tablespoon of oil to get the pillowy texture and buttery flavor. If you don’t like adding the oil, replace it with 1 Tablespoon of butter. Although, I highly recommend adding 1 Tablespoon of oil to get the softness.
This recipe has 2 rise times. First rise for 1 hour and the 2nd rise for 40 minutes. Remember to preheat the oven during the 2nd rise time.
Egg wash or no egg wash? Well, it is your personal preference. I like applying the egg wash as it gives a shiny golden color to the rolls.
